Introduction

Introduction

The igGrid Feature Chooser is an internal control that is rendered for specific features and when they are in specific modes. The following sections detail when the feature chooser used by the grid. When in use, the Feature Chooser is rendered at the top right of the column header cell. When the chooser icon is clicked (or tapped), a context menu appears over the grid. The feature chooser widget is touch-compatible and allows users to easily select grid features.

Feature Chooser Sections

The Feature Chooser is divided in three semantic sections: Toggle, Action and Modal Dialog.

The following table summarizes the three different sections of the Feature Chooser:

These actions are enabled or disabled via a toggle behavior. If the feature is shown, then selecting the feature from the Feature Chooser will hide the feature. Once hidden, users can easily show it again by clicking or tapping the feature in the chooser again.

By clicking on the feature in the chooser item, you directly execute action. For example, when you click on “Hide Column” item, the selected column is hidden.

Feature chooser features list summary

The following table summarizes the igGrid features that are controlled by the Feature Chooser widget. Additional details are available for each control after the table.

Filtering

Clicking on the Show Filter and Hide Filter list item – shows or hides the simple filtering feature.

Summaries

Clicking on the Show Summaries or Hide Summaries list item shows or hides the summaries feature.

Hiding

Clicking on the Hide item hides the column. Clicking on the Column chooser item shows modal dialog window with options to show or hide columns.

Multiple Sorting

Clicking on Sort on Multiple list item opens a modal window which allows you to multiple sort columns.

Advanced Filtering

Clicking on the Advanced Filtering list item opens a modal window which allows you to filter columns.

Column Moving

Clicking on one of the buttons: Move First, Move Left, Move Right, Move Last will move the column. Clicking on the Move Columns list item opens a modal window which allows you to move columns.


Hiding in the Feature Chooser

You can hide a column using the direct Hide button from the Feature Chooser execution region. Then the column will be hidden and replaced by small striped area in the grid. Clicking on this area displays the column once again in its original position.

To see all the hidden columns, select Column Chooser. The Column Chooser is activated from the modal dialog section, or from the hidden column context menu as shown in the following screenshots.

Multiple Sorting in the Feature Chooser

Sorting on a single column is achieved by clicking on the header text of the column. When sorting on multiple columns, the Feature Chooser allows you to select the columns you want to sort and their order.

Advanced Filtering in the Feature Chooser

When the feature chooser is shown and if the filtering is in advance mode, then filtering appears in the modal dialog section. The advanced filter dialog allows multiple filters to be set for a single column. The advanced filtering dialog also does expose the “AND” or “OR” operators in order to combine multiple filters.
